2007 Energy Conservation Construction Code of New York State

The Energy Conservation Construction Code of New York (ECCCNYS 2007) addresses the design of energy-efficient building envelopes and the installation of energy-efficient mechanical, lighting and power systems through requirements emphasizing performance. This comprehensive code establishes minimum regulations for energy-efficient buildings using prescriptive and performance-related provisions. It makes possible the use of new materials and innovative techniques that conserve energy. The ECCCNYS 2007 has an effective date of January 1, 2008.

ASHRAE Standard 90.1 2004

Commercial buildings must be designed by Chapter 8 of the ECCCNYS 2007. Section 801 allows alternative design by ASHRAE 90.1-2004, Energy Standards for Buildings, Except for Low Rise Residential Buildings. ASHRAE 90.1-2004 is available from the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Engineers, Inc. at www.ashrae.orgThis link will open in a new page or by telephone at (800) 527-4723. The standard version year changed to 2004 effective on April 9, 2008.
