This methodology is referred to in the ECCCNYS 2007 Section 101.5 as “worksheets based on the software”. The “prescriptive worksheet approach” is component oriented and is the most straightforward method of demonstrating compliance with the code. It includes tables with specific values that a particular building component must meet. This procedure is the fastest and easiest ways to demonstrate compliance. The prescriptive requirements in turn are also the most stringent and least flexible of the compliance approaches. The “trade-off worksheet approach” enables builders to vary insulation levels, glazing and door U-values in conjunction with more efficient heating or cooling equipment. Based on the proposed plans and specifications, the builder enters basic insulation and efficiency information on a REScheck worksheet then calculates manually, a total “UA-value” for the project.
Residential Worksheets and Manuals Two manual methods of demonstrating compliance
using worksheets, prescriptive and tradeoff, are available. Note that both the
worksheet method and the software method (REScheck
