Mailing and Building Entry Info
To ensure prompt delivery of your mail, it is important that you utilize the above mailing address.
Please note that if you utilize express services or next day ground services such as UPS, Federal Express, DHL etc. you should use the physical address of the building. This would be the above 80 South Swan Street address.
A.E. Smith State Office Building Entry
A strict security policy is enforced at the Alfred E. Smith Building for entrance into the building. Upon entrance into the building lobby, all individuals are required to provide security staff with proper identification prior to proceeding to the Licensing Customer Service Office. Once you have provide acceptable proof of identification, a photo will be taken and a visitor pass will be issued.
The only forms of acceptable proof of identification include either a valid DMV license or a non drivers issued DMV ID or a current valid passport. If you do not provide one of these forms of identification, you will not be allowed past the lobby. No other ID is acceptable. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Preregistration is optional and recommended.
PreRegistration:
It is recommended that individuals who wish to visit the Licensing Services Customer Service Office located on the 10th floor of the Alfred E Smith Building preregister with our office prior to visiting our Albany office. The phone number for preregistration is (518) 474-1006. This number should be utilized for preregistration only. If you do not preregister, upon arrival at the Alfred E Smith Building, there will be a minimum of an additional 15 minute wait while Security registers your name into the visitor management system.
